Most fun game
64Internet Browsing Puzzle Based on Free Associations
This game can be very complex or very easy and is most suitable for online forums. The rules are simple: the first player creates a thread where s/he gives instructions on how to find the word or the name s/he thought of as the keyword. Whoever finds the keyword has won the round and makes up her own, and so on.
The instructions may include other threads from the forum, or a known website - anything that has to do with the theme of the forum and will be a common ground known to the other participants. The player may include in between keywords that will serve as passwords to specifically created email accounts, wherein more keywords will be hidden.
Example: I have thought of the keyword "Merilyn Monroe." I'll pick a thread where politics are discussed and find a post about JFK. The first instruction will be "Find the post about the assassinated President." The last name "Kennedy" will be the password to a gmail account created for this round of the game, the first name "John" will be the username. The following instruction will be "Log in to gmail as if you were the late President" (nothing wrong with a little mystification). An email (which you sent from another email account) in the inbox will contain the next instruction "Some like it hot - check how on imdb." The next step that the participant should perform is to type in "some like it hot" into imdb's search box. Voila - the main actress is Marilyn. The last instruction will thus be "Put up a photo of her as your avatar and make a post." If the photo is correct (it should be, with so many clues)- the participant has won the round.
The beauty of this game is that each player can think of anything s/he likes, considering there's common ground between all participants, so that as the example shows, everybody will be familiar with the actress and her filmography, with IMDB web site, with JFK's love life. The level of difficulty is entirely up to the player. In one round, I have written the first instruction in dancing men font, introduced by A.C. Doyle in eponymous Sherlock Holmes story. The thread was about detective novels.
I hope you can enjoy this game, and don't hesitate to ask me for more ideas and instructions.
